- Decision theory, parametric and non-parametric models for supervised and unsupervised classification, combinatorial optimization algorithms, graph-based methods for image analysis and face recognition.
- Image and Signal Processing
- Statistical models for image formation, adaptive linear filtering, Bayesian approaches (MAP-MRF), graph-cut approaches for image labeling, regularization of inverse problems (deconvolution), least squares and constrained least square estimation, wavelets, audio/speech processinandg shape analysis techniques.
- Markov Random Fields (MRF's)
- Statistical inference on Markov Random Fields, maximum pseudo-likelihood estimation, asymptotic evaluations, MCMC (Markov Chain Monte Carlo) simulation algorithms (Gibbs-Sampler, Metropolis-Hastings, Swendsen-Wang), Hidden Markov Models (HMM's) and Fisher Information on MRF models.
- Applied Multivariate Analysis
